Choc-Paw Kennels FAQ

What sized dogs do you service?

We mainly accommodate BIG dog breeds, which are usually 50-100 lbs. If you have a medium sized dog that you would like services for, please reach out! 

What types of vaccinations do the dogs have to have?

All dogs must have updated vaccinations. The required vaccinations are Rabies, DHPP/DA2PP (Distemper, Hepatitis, Parvovirus, Parainfluenza) and Bordetella (kennel cough). 

Do you service working dogs?

We do not service working dogs, however we do serve working breeds. There is a difference between a pet dog drive and a working dog drive. We are not equipped to train or provide any service for a high drive/working dog. 

Will you administer my dog's medications?

Yes. Please make sure to bring medication with you, along with a detailed schedule and any side effects we should watch for. We will also require the name and phone number of your veterinarian, incase of an allergic reaction, or problem with the medication(s).

Should I bring my own food or will you provide food?

We do not provide food. Please bring your own food if you are using a service that is during their normal feeding times.  We have plenty of space for dry food, raw food, and frozen food.

Can I bring my own dog bed, blankets or crates?

You can bring one item, such as a stuffed animal or their favorite toy. You may not bring bedding or your own crates. 

Will my dog play with other dogs?

No, unless the other dogs are from your home. If you have more than one dog that is using our services they will be allowed to be in the same run and play together. However, they will not be allowed to play with anyone else's dog(s). 

How often will my dog be able to play outside?

As much as possible! We do not have time limits or restrictions where this is concerned. The amount of play time with vary, depending on how many dogs we are servicing. At minimum, they will be allowed to play (indoors or outdoors) for at least 2 hours, spread throughout the day. Please remember, this is a minimum and most of the time they will have more enrichment opportunities. 

What are pick up and drop off times?

You may pick up/ drop off your dog during business hours. We do not provide half days, so please be mindful of the rates. 

What happens if my pet gets sick while staying with you?

If your pet becomes ill while in our care, we will contact the person/ veterinary clinic you have outlined. If no one is available, or the vet is closed, we will take your pet to an emergency veterinary office. 

How are my pets housed?

Your pet will be housed inside, with AC/heat, plenty of ventilation and dehumidifiers. Enrichment activities can be outside or inside. We have big fans throughout the outdoor enrichment area for maximum comfort.  

How far in advance should I book services?

As soon as possible. Scheduling services as soon as you know you'll need them is recommended. If you would like to book last minute, and we have space, come on by!

What is your cancelation policy?

We require a 72 hour notice for cancelations. If you need to cancel after the allowed time frame, a cancelation charge will be assessed. 

Am I allowed to book a tour?

Absolutely! We want you to be comfortable with our services and space. Just drop us a line and we'll get you scheduled for a tour. 

Are there people on site after hours and on holidays?

Yes. There will be people on site after hours and on holidays. 

I have more than one dog, can they stay and play together?

Yes! They may stay in the same run, as well as participate in enrichment times together. If you book a training service, we may only work with one dog at a time. 

What happens if the power goes out during bad weather?

No problem! We have a generator wired into the building, so if the power goes out, the generator comes on. 

What is the minimum age dog your kennel will accept?

12 weeks, with at least the first two rounds of vaccinations. Please be advised that it is not safe for unvaccinated puppies to be out and about and we assume no liability if you choose to bring a puppy. 

What types of dogs are not allowed?

We do not serve any dog that has temperament issues such as extreme reactivity, food aggression or aggression toward people.
